A Fresh Start of a New Year, Reflections of 2022
As 2023 begins, I am reflecting on what a crazy busy 2022 was for our second year in “reinspirement.” Our accomplishments are noteworthy!
Our Big Project
In the first part of 2022, Dr B and I spent quality time through our presentations, blogs, and publications sharing our messages by encouraging others to tap into their Power of 5 for health and wellness.
One of our ambitious goals was transitioning Dr B’s book, The Power of 5 The Ultimate Formula for Longevity and Remaining Youthful into an online course. The course includes nine fact-filled video modules with Dr B and me guiding our learners to apply the Power of 5 Formula to their lives. Reusable study material provided in each module offers valuable tips to apply the wellness principles to daily living. The self-paced course explains the Why and How for getting More Sleep, More Socialization (avoiding loneliness), More Sweat (exercise), Less Stress, and Fewer Sweets (healthy eating) to benefit living well throughout your life.
My Big Project
In June 2022, I returned my attention to my second Power of 5 Cookbook. I am excited to announce the Power of 5 Test Kitchen Your Guide to Healthy Cooking and Eating will launch in February 2023 during healthy heart month!
It is not just any ordinary cookbook — it is two books in one.
- The first component of the book and each ensuing chapter engages the reader about the relevance of healthy eating and guides for healthy cooking.
- The second component is the implementation of healthy cooking and eating woven within each of my tested recipes.
Each recipe has easy-to-prepare suggestions with ingredients and options referred to as “Melissa’s Modifications” at the end of each recipe. My modifications provide ways to make slight alterations to the recipe to meet dietary needs. Therefore, each recipe offers multiple adaptations based on your desired eating lifestyle.
The Power of 5 Ultimate Formula inspires followers to improve their health by incorporating healthy eating options into each meal. Choose the healthiest of ingredients, limit sugars (sweets), carbohydrates and fats, and include a healthy intake of protein.
The recipes are easy to make and will impress family and friends, even our four-legged ones! I devoted Chapter 9 of the cookbook to providing healthy treats to our dogs (sorry cat lovers)!
Dreams Becoming Reality
This cookbook is the culmination of a lifelong dream. I have spent my life helping others, first as an occupational therapist. And now, I have merged my devotion to healthy cooking and eating as a cookbook author and certified home chef.

A Fresh Start for 2023
Dr B and I are so proud of our accomplishments in 2022 and look forward to another engaging year ahead. We send our sincerest hopes for all of you, wishing a happy, healthy and productive 2023!
